Hi,

I'm Romeo, Odin’s daddy, and Mihaela is Odin’s mummy.

For the last 6 years we have lost 4 babies and been through really hard moments.

In 2022 we had a successfully IVF procedure, resulting into an embryo transfer, that multiplied and became a twin pregnancy. We were thinking that our bad luck is over, but I was so wrong. My wife went into labour extremely early (23 weeks), and she gave birth to two lovely twin boys. Unfortunately our other boy Otis passed away after 6 hard days in the NICU unit, as a result of two brain bleeds.
Odin spent over three months in the NICU also, going through ups and downs, he’s been intubated twice, been on oxigen for really long, and was tube feeding.
He is now 1 year old (8 months corrected age) and has moderate Plagiocephaly. This is a type of flat head syndrome which can often be caused by the pressure of babies lying on the back of their head. Odin’s head is flattened at the back and to the right side, mainly due to him being intubated when his head was extremely soft. This has caused his head to shift forwards causing a slightly prominent forehead and his right back side is flattened.

Odin is a good candidate for helmet treatment which will treat the plagiocephaly. This treatment is not funded by the NHS as they deem the head shape to be cosmetic. The NHS usually just advise repositioning however this hasn't worked for Odin as he already favours sleeping on the other side of his head.

The longer Odin is left without the treatment, the harder it will be to treat.

I had to change my job soon after the IVF in 2022, and the drop in my pay and my wife being on maternity when the boys were born has caused a financial strain on us so we are unable to fund the treatment alone. We have already over £15000 in debts, had to take several loans, trying to cover the daily costs.
