Lola Harbour
Thanks for taking the time to visit Lola's JustGiving page and THANK YOU SO MUCH for what you are giving - it will make SUCH a difference to her life.
Lola is our beautiful three year old and she has a condition called Angelman Syndrome, which is very rare and there are only 2,000 people in the UK with the condition. It means that despite being a very determined and sassy young lady, she will never speak and her almost constant background epilepsy means she struggles to walk and finds all co-ordination difficult. With an extraordinary medical team to support her (as her Angelman signature is genetically unique) and a great family behind her - including her amazing brother Oskar she will need a LOT of support.
Thats where YOU come in because you can help her find her voice with communication equipment that enables her to point and sign for things and to tell us how she feels. People with Angelman syndrome can understand the world around them - but just cant talk to us about their needs.
We are raising money first of all for a specialist ipad that will help her communicate using a system called AAC (Augmented Assisted Communication) and then there are the wheelchairs, supports, walking aids - sleeping is real challenge as she gets older as she will get up in the night and if she walks without us there is liable to fall so she needs a specialist bed.
The NHS is amazing but just cannot deliver enough of the services she needs in good time and at the right standard so every family in this situation finds themselves looking for brilliant and supportive people like you to help Lola enjoy her life.
