Lola Harbour
Fundraising for Communication Device, Equipment and specialist furniture
Lola is a beautiful 4-year-old girl. She has a rare neurogenetic condition called Angelman Syndrome.
Angelman syndrome primarily affects the nervous system and causes severe developmental and intellectual disabilities. It’s characterized by speech impairment, balance and coordination issues, and a happy demeanor.
Lola has refractory epilepsy. Even while on 3 different epilepsy drugs, she can have up to 60 petit mal seizures a day. At the start of this year, she had an operation to fit a Vagus nerve stimulator. The stimulator sends regular, mild electrical stimulations through this nerve to help calm down the irregular electrical brain activity that leads to seizures.
Lola works really hard to achieve milestones. She sometimes takes a few unaided steps, but with her lack of balance and seizures, she often falls. She has a walking frame, which helps give her independence and causes mischief.
She has a wonderful personality, is very determined, and knows what she wants!
Caring for a disabled child brings some challenges, but also lots of additional costs. That’s why we have teamed up with Tree of Hope.
As Lola gets bigger and outgrows the standard-sized toddler items, we need to start looking into things made for children with special needs.
Safety bed, pushchair, SLT sessions, highchair, car seat, and nappies to name a few. So we are here to hopefully raise some money towards the additional costs that come with raising our amazing daughter.
Thank you so much for taking the time to visit Lola’s JustGiving page, and if you are able to donate, it is greatly appreciated.
JustGiving is simple, fast, and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving—they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity. So it’s the most efficient way to donate—saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
7.5% of all donations to Tree of Hope in relation to this appeal will be allocated to the general charitable purposes of Tree of Hope to cover our core operating costs. If we raise insufficient funds, or surplus funds, then the funds will be used, if appropriate, to fund support for our child’s needs in accordance with Tree of Hope’s charitable objects. If, in those circumstances, we are unable to use all or part of the funds for the benefit of our child in accordance with Tree of Hope’s charitable objectives, then any funds that cannot be used will be transferred to be used for the general charitable purposes of Tree of Hope.
