Heidi - amara

I’m Abbie Heidi’s mammy and Jack is Heidi’s daddy.
I noticed from birth that Heidi had a flattening of the back of her head. I was advised that it is fine and it will eventually go, I was given advice which I followed. I was told by doctors, midwives and health visitors to do position changes, use flat head pillows, lie her on her side during tummy time etc. I followed all this advice and over the first months of her life I noticed no change. I took her to the doctors a few times where I was given the same advice. I was constantly full of worry, monitoring and taking photos of her head every day hoping I’d see a change but I never did. I did everything I could following all advice but nothing helped I felt so defeated. I was even told by one doctor that it’s fine her flattening of the head as, ‘she is a girl as she gets older and her hair grows you’ll not be able to tell’ I was not happy with this sentence.
It wasn’t until Heidi’s 9-12 month health visitor check, she gave me information on helmet treatment but that it would cost as the NHS don’t fund them. I spoke with Heidi’s dad and we decide to look up clinics near us. That’s when we found technology in motion and we booked an appointment where she was placed in to the severe bracket for brachycephaly (her cranial index is 101%). She has brachycephaly which is a type of flat head syndrome. Heidi’s was due to fetal positioning and whilst in labour due to positioning and time in the birth canal. She also favoured one side to sleep on which, again I would try to change her position but she would always go back to it.
My daughter would benefit great from this helmet which will treat her brachycephaly. This treatment is not funded by the NHS which, is sad:( and only being offered advice I found not helpful at all. Due to Heidi being 13 months old and her needing the helmet treatment very quickly we don’t have much time on our hands to get her fitted with her helmet. As well as, being hit with the treatment bill on top of it being so close to Christmas, I am due my second baby soon and going on maternity soon money is tight and we are facing money difficulties and so much worry. The treatment is costing over two thousand pounds and we have already footed so much of the bill but we are struggling to pay the rest due to the time frame of the bill being due is so small.
All of this has been big an impact on us in affording her treatment bill in a small time frame. So any donation will be such massive, great help and we appreciate any help, and we thank anyone who is able to help us in this time:) your donation could help make a big difference to my little girls life and we appreciate it massively.
