Dravet Syndrome

What is Dravet Syndrome?

Dravet syndrome (DS) is a severe form of epilepsy characterized by frequent, prolonged seizures often triggered by high body temperature, developmental delay, speech impairment, ataxia, hypotonia, sleep disturbances, and other health problems.

About

People with Dravet Syndrome have varied degrees of intellectual disability and a spectrum of associated conditions (known as ‘comorbidities’), which may include autism, ADHD, behaviours that challenge and difficulties with speech, mobility, eating and sleep.

How can Dravet Syndrome be helped?

Medications are available, as well as ketogenic diets and varying types of therapies, which Tree of Hope can support.
