Medical Committee Co-opted Member
Use your medical or healthcare expertise to help families of sick and disabled children access safe, effective, and life-changing treatments through Tree of Hope Medical Committee.
What Will You be Doing?
Tree of Hope is a UK children’s healthcare charity, helping families of children and young people with disabilities or health conditions access vital care and support. We provide families with expert advice, guidance, and a secure platform to fundraise for treatments, therapies, and equipment not freely available through the NHS or social care.
The Medical Committee ensures that the support Tree of Hope provides is safe, effective, and aligned with its charitable objectives. It operates with a focus on governance to maintain high standards and build trust.
As a co-opted member, you will bring your medical, healthcare, or research expertise to support these critical functions. Key responsibilities include:
- Contributing to decisions on whether treatments, therapies, or conditions fall within Tree of Hope’s remit and charitable objects.
- Assessing the outcomes of funded treatments to evaluate long-term impact on children and families.
- Advising on new or rare conditions, ensuring the charity’s actions align with its mission.
- Offering expert insights on healthcare developments, particularly in areas of innovation and medical research.
This is an exciting opportunity to apply your skills and knowledge to directly impact the health and well-being of children and young people.
What Are We Looking For?
We are seeking individuals with:
- Professional experience in healthcare, medicine, or research. A background in children’s health, neurological conditions, or developmental disabilities is particularly desirable.
- Strong analytical skills to critically evaluate scientific and medical evidence.
- A commitment to improving the health and well-being of children and young people.
- A collaborative approach and the ability to contribute constructively to committee discussions.
- Clear communication skills, with the ability to explain complex medical concepts in accessible terms.
- An understanding of charity governance, with knowledge of the ethical and legal responsibilities involved in decision-making (desirable but not essential).
If you share our passion for supporting families and improving children’s lives, we’d love to hear from you.
What Difference Will You Make?
As a co-opted member of the Medical Committee, your expertise will help Tree of Hope ensure that children and young people can access safe, effective, and innovative healthcare. Your guidance will also help Tree of Hope stay at the forefront of developments in children’s healthcare, ensuring our work remains impactful and relevant.
